The Baptist Shorter Catechism

The use of catechisms among Reformed Christians dates back to the Reformation itself. In our day the need for catechetical instruction has not been outgrown. In fact, if anything, it is greater now than at many times in the past. Our children need to have the solid truths of God etched upon their minds as they enter the world beyond our front door. We must do all we can to guard them against the pressures of a godless society and to guide them through the fog of ignorance and folly of the undiscerning “Christianity” of our day. This catechism incorporates a Baptist perspective into the proven standard of “The Westminister Shorter Catechism” and seeks to refine its use of covenantal terms into more accurate biblical terminology.
